KAMEDA SEIKA GROUP HUMAN RIGHTS POLICY

The Kameda Seika Group is founded on its corporate philosophy of “Responding to the expectations of all stakeholders associated with the Company” and “Ensuring the perpetual continuity and growth of the Company.” Respect for human rights is also established as one of the fundamental principles of conduct in the Kameda Seika Group Code of Conduct.
We recognize that respecting the human rights of all people involved in our business activities is a fundamental corporate responsibility. We strive to contribute to a society in which the dignity and rights of every individual are protected and respected.
Based on this commitment, we hereby establish the Kameda Seika Group Human Rights Policy (the “Policy”) to ensure respect for human rights throughout all aspects of our business activities.

1. Fundamental Principles and International Human Rights Standards We Support

The Kameda Seika Group supports and respects internationally recognized human rights standards, in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), including:

  • The International Bill of Human Rights (including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenants on Human Rights)
  • The ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and its core labor standards
  • The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct
  • The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact
  • The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

We comply with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which we operate. Where local laws and internationally recognized human rights standards differ, we will comply with applicable laws while seeking ways to respect internationally recognized human rights principles to the greatest extent possible.

2. Scope of Application

This Policy applies to all directors, officers, and employees of the Kameda Seika Group.
We also expect our business partners to understand and comply with the principles set forth in this Policy.

3. Human Rights Priorities of the Kameda Seika Group

Taking into account risks specific to the food industry and our material sustainability issues, the Kameda Seika Group identifies the following as priority human rights issues.

(1) Prohibition of Discrimination
We do not tolerate discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, social status, health condition, or any other protected characteristic.

(2) Prohibition of Harassment
We prohibit power harassment, sexual harassment, and any conduct or behavior that undermines the dignity of others.

(3) Prohibition of Forced Labor and Child Labor
In accordance with ILO standards, we prohibit all forms of forced labor and child labor and work to prevent such practices throughout our supply chain, including raw material sourcing regions.

(4) Fair and Safe Working Conditions
We strive to provide safe and hygienic working environments and ensure appropriate working hours and fair compensation.

We also respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.

(5) Respect for the Rights of Foreign Workers
We are committed to creating working environments in which foreign employees, both within our Group and throughout our value chain, can fully utilize and develop their capabilities.

(6) Privacy and Personal Data Protection
We appropriately manage the personal information of employees, business partners, and customers and respect their privacy.

(7) Customers’ Health and Rights
We prioritize product safety and promote consideration for health-related needs through initiatives such as reduced-sodium products, allergy-friendly products, halal products, and gluten-free products. We also provide accurate and appropriate product labeling and advertising.

(8) Human Rights in Local Communities
We respect the rights of local communities through responsible management of water resources and land use, as well as coexistence and collaboration with local agriculture initiatives, including Nice Rice Farm.

4. Human Rights Due Diligence

In accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Kameda Seika Group continuously implements the following processes:

  • Identification and assessment of human rights risks
  • Prevention and mitigation measures
  • Monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness
  • Engagement and consultation with stakeholders
  • Disclosure of relevant information

We place particular emphasis on high-risk areas within the food industry.

5. Grievance Mechanisms and Remedy

The Kameda Seika Group provides mechanisms through which concerns and reports relating to human rights violations may be raised and ensures the protection of those who report such concerns.
Where adverse human rights impacts are identified, we will provide appropriate remedy in accordance with international standards and take measures to prevent recurrence.

6. Education and Awareness

To ensure that this Policy is embedded in our daily operations, we provide ongoing education and training for directors, officers, and employees, and we promote appropriate awareness among our suppliers and business partners.

7. Dialogue and Engagement with Stakeholders

To enhance the effectiveness of our human rights initiatives, the Kameda Seika Group promotes dialogue and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including employees, business partners, local communities, and human rights experts.

8. Information Disclosure

We will continuously disclose information regarding the implementation, progress, and improvement of this Policy through our website and other appropriate communication channels.

9. Governance and Management Structure

Under the leadership of the Managing Directors responsible for sustainability, the Kameda Seika Group shall establish a framework for implementing this Policy in cooperation with relevant departments and ensure its effective operation under the oversight of the Board of Directors.
This Policy has been approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Management Committee and is endorsed by the Representative Director and President.
